Banksia Beats is a Hip Hop Therapy Program based in Banksia Hill Detention Centre (BHDC) and Casuarina’s Unit 18. Hip Hop pedagogical and cultural practices underpin how our program is shaped, whilst adopting Hip Person-Centred and Narrative Therapy principles. Our facilitators are Trauma-informed and FASD-informed, who understand the environment and circumstances that resulted in young people being caught up in the system. What makes our program special is we speak their language.
